As Senior Vice President, Global Product Development, Mr. Somayajula has global responsibility for all aspects of Hyster-Yale Material Handling's product development, including product strategy, design, engineering, research and development, and technology innovations such as Electrification, Fuel Cells and Automation. His focus is to deliver the right trucks at the right price with the lowest cost of ownership while enhancing productivity for Hyster-Yale customers. Mr. Somayajula drives industry and customer-focused solutions to meet evolving needs, and continuous improvement to new product introduction (NPI) process and talent development to enhance speed to market and innovation culture. His career in product development began in 1983 with major corporations International Truck and Engine Corporation, Ford Motor Company and Case New Holland Corporation. Mr. Somayajula joined Hyster-Yale Group in 2001 as Vice President, Counterbalanced Engineering. He holds a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University.
